Planned departure is your personal electronic vault. In this vault you can store important information about your life and on-line identity in safe and secure way. This vault is accessible to you 24*7 and can be accessed from any place. In this vault you can store information about your bank accounts, arrangement with utility services, your business or personal network, shares, passwords and everything else which might be useful to someone you love after you pass away.

We may also check with people you trust if some one tells us that you have passed away by using our Report a Passing feature. This might be very useful feature because it will enable us to act faster and release information you stored with us as soon as all the verifications are done. We suggest, you tell at least couple of people about this feature so that they can contact us and let us know of any unfortunate event.

Communication } Check my well being

With planned departure there are many ways to find out if you have passed away or are not well. We can send you periodic email to check your well being or if you are active on Facebook or Twitter, we can monitor your feeds or tweets. We will get concerned if you do not respond to our email and we might contact your family or people you trust to check your well being.

We may also check with people you trust if some one tells us that you have passed away by using our Report a Passing feature. Digital Assets } What are digital assets?

Digital assets are the information you want to pass on to your loved ones or beneficiaries. In this connected and on-line world there are so many things you manage, which are extremely important for your life and will be useful for you family members after your death. In many cases, unfortunately you become the only keeper of that information and after your death, that information is either lost or your family have hard time to recover it. In worst case, that information can be abused as well which can potentially become very problematic for your loved ones.

There is no limit to what you can store with this system. You can store your photographs, notes, important contacts, information about your direct debits, shares, accounts, and password for your machines to name a few different type of assets.

As mentioned earlier, for every piece of information or asset, you can specify who will receive this information after death by defining beneficiaries.

Beneficiaries } Who will recieve digital assets?

People you love or beneficiaries are the people who will receive information from us after your death. You can specify as many beneficiaries as you want. For every piece of information you store with us, you can tell us the beneficiary who will receive this information. You might want to transfer your business related information to your business partner and personal information to your life partner and with this feature you can do that with ease.

You can even set up a default beneficiary with us and whatever information you add to the Planned Departure, it will be assigned to your default beneficiary.

You can also specify how this information should be delivered to these people. We can combine all this information and send your beneficiary this information in the email. If you want, we can even send this information in the physical post if your beneficiaries do not have access to computers or internet.

Report } Can some one claim digital assets?

We have our system in place to keep tap on your well being and also given people ability to contact us and tell us about any unfortunate event. Still we rely heavily on the confirmation with real people. These are people you trust and since you can trust them, we also trust them and treat their word along with a proof as final confirmation that you have passed away and release all the information we have for your beneficiaries.

When you create your account, we ask you to tell us about two people you trust most. As mentioned above, in the unfortunate event when either our system flag that you are not responding or if someone contact us and tell us that you have passed away - we will contact these people or verifier to confirm it. We may ask them to supply evidence, which could be death certificate or medical certificate if you have not passed away but are in comma for long time.

We ask our users to add verifiers as soon as account is created. Without verifiers, it becomes a bit difficult for us to release information to the beneficiaries after your death.
